When it comes to stone polishing and finishing, there are two types of polishing- namely dry and wet polish. Both of these types are used in the polishing of different types of stone surfaces such as granite, marble, etc. Recently, dry polishing has become a talk of the town, and rightly so. Dry polishing is used to produce mirror-like finishing without using chemicals or water. It consists of a non-diamond grit, available in different sizes and shapes as per the requirement of the task. It produces no slur therefore completely environmentally friendly.
Dry polishing makes use of dry polishing pads. These pads are detachable and can be replaced with pads of different sizes and shapes. These pads are used to polish a vast range of hard and rough surfaces and turn them into glossy and finished stones. These pads are also used to smoothen the stones used in kitchen countertops, benchtops, glass edges, and garden arts. These pads are easier to use because, unlike other polishing pads, they do not use any wet chemicals which eliminates the possibility of any messy slurry and need of a thorough clean up.
Size
The size of dry
polishing pads plays a very crucial role when it comes to well-finished
polishing. Smaller size polishing pads are appropriate for spot polishing and
removal of small and complex intricate stone deformities without causing saw
marks. These pads can be sourced from Dry Polishing Pads manufacturer at reasonable prices.
They are available in the following grit sizes:
·
50,
·
100,
·
200,

Applications Of Dry Polishing Pads
·
Ceramic Tiles
Ceramic tiles are made
up of natural clay, sand, and water and then heated enough for permanence.
These tiles are prone to catching dust. These tiles are used in kitchen and
bathroom walls. They are also used in making kitchen countertops. Their
polishing is a labor-intensive and expensive process. But by choosing dry
polishing pads, this process can be carried out quickly and efficiently. You
will be required to choose the grit size based on the number of tiles.
·
Concrete
Concrete polish
requires maximum labor due to its hard tensile strength. Firstly, a concrete
slab is cleaned in a proper way. After that, different sizes of dry polishing
pads are chosen to polish the surface depending upon the requirement finish
required. As a result, we get a higher shine.
·
Granite
To dry polish granite,
you are required to place the slab onto a flat surface. Then, sprinkle some
water on it to prepare the surface for polish. Once it is done, attach the grit
with the pad, keeping into consideration the size and texture of the granite
slab. Then, move the grinder from left to right. After some time, detach the
size 50 grit and replace it with 100 grit size. Continue switching grits until
a glossy finish is achieved.
Safety Precautions
Dry polishing pads
produce a lot of dust when used. The dust can cause allergic reactions if
inhaled. Therefore, it is advisable to wear masks while polishing, for
instance, a dust mask.
These pads get heated
quickly, so they are required to be used at a slow speed. If used at high
speed, it can permanently burn the stone and can cause fatal consequences for
the user.
